Patterning question

My buddy just got his 1st turkey gun. He actually won it.... anyway it's a Remington 1100 26" barrel, full choke (screw in), 3" mag 12 ga.

I went with him Saturday morning to check it out. We ran Winchester XX #5's thru it just to see where it's at. (didn't take pics of pattern). This thing shoots way off! Center mass is low about 3" and left about 5". This is terrible! I had to aim above & right of the head on the target just to get 10 pellets in the kill zone- at 25 yards, anything beyond forget about it 

Other than handing him my old 870 that I know will kill turkeys, what should I do with his gun??? Different choke tube? different shot?

Shad any adjustable sights on it or just beads?  If just bead... get either a red dot or fiber optic sights on it is what I'd do.

It could be the choke, could be the barrel, but I'm not big on shooting with a bead anymore

Bead- I wondered about that myself. Why can't they make guns like they used to? Now you have to get out and make sure it works right. Can't trust that it was made the way it's supposed to be...

I shoot an old 870 given to me by my Grandpa- bead sight but that baby will mow down what you point it at.

Get rid of the choke. Get a  Primos Jelly head for it, they are a good dependable turkey killer. Put a set of hi visability sites on it. That should help it tremendously!!! Then you can look into getting a red dot for it.
