New call trying my patience!
« on: September 16, 2009, 09:27:04 PM »
I have a beautiful Curly Maple Adam turned and I tried the bead blasted bronze glass over glass. It just didn't "have" it. It was OK but just not something I would hunt with. So I took the bead blasted out checked all measurements and they are spot on. So I'm gonna try another surface. This is the hardest wood Adam has turned. It should sing. Gotta think. May try Ed's suggestion and try plain Aluminum. Wee when and if I "get it" I will post pictures. Sure hope it works this is a beautiful pot!

I want a higher pitch call. Have plenty of slate, looking to expand the horizon. We have a glass design that sings. And copper is awesome. That bead blasted was just not the ticket.

Hi Mike,

It will drive ya nuts won't it!!   Don't just bail out on that glass yet...Did you try a "large" variety of striker types, along with different woods??   Maybe try a heavy purpleheart striker.
I may have one round here if you want to try it.  You can have it.

I love purplehearts on my glass.

I like the aluminum idea. I have a ambrosia maple I did in aluminum that sings pure turkey....Use the green anodized.... I've never been a fan of blasted glass either..... *gobble*
