Would you shoot this?

These picture were taken across the road from where I usually hunt. Is this a cross breed? Do you have any other suggestions? Thank you.

Before I made a decision, I would ask Dr Lovett Williams.

It does appear to be some type of barnyard bird but he would be able to give you a better answer than me.

I've hunted a farm that has had two white birds on them.  The farmer asked us not to shoot them.  I had the chance several times to shoot the white hen, but didn't.  

It's legal and they are as wild as the other birds (on the farm I hunt), but I sure do like looking at them!  

Personally I would not, but on the other hand, when they breed they pass on their domestic genes...  

Kind of like an albino deer.  They are legal to shoot, just not sure I would shoot one.

That is a beautiful bird... Now I do know of one like that I'd love to take out, but ole Ferguson might get mad at me.  His pet Turkey hates me!!!!

Absolutely, I'd drop the hammer on him if I ever saw him on a property I was hunting.  I'd get him out of the gene pool as quickly as possible...

Looks like a cross between a butterball and a barnyard turkey. Hammer down if he gobbles at me.

This looks to be a escapee, A heirloom variety of domesticate turkey called a royal palm. Although liveing wild and being as wild as the resident flock I would take him out of the gene pool. Do a image search for royal palm turkeys and see what you think. The colorations vary some but this bird shows alot of the same characteristics. If he is a crossbreed that's probably where his genetics lye. I any case, I would remove him from the wild population.

I talked to a wildlife biologist a few years ago about this type of turkey in the wild. He said they are a mixed breed with very weak genetics and should be eliminated.

For that reason, I would shoot it.

 It looks to me that this is a domestic turkey . They usually have thicker/shorter legs than a wild turkey and the spurs grow wider and thicker but not as long as a wild turkey . The head also looks like a farm-raised turkey , not like the head on a color-phase wild turkey . If this is true then there probably isn't much chance that the local wild turkeys would breed with him . No matter the case , he'll be tasty on the table !!
