Had to cast a spell on me, but it seems to have taken....
The day before the opener, me and my dad went to listen. We heard 7 the day before the season. Opening
day I heard one bird twice. Next day, same bird 6 times. Next day I pulled an all day affair and almost killed
him at 11ish, he only gobbled 15 or so times all day. Then the next 4 days I heard a combined 5 gobbles... I was
hunting hard and I was LOW...
Saturday morning came around and I went back to the opening morning bird, he wasn't there.

BUT
I found a gobbling turkey or two not far away... It wasn't until 8:30 and they didn't gobble much, but they gobbled plenty!
Got a few of his hens interested with some kee kees and lost yelps... Then I sparked his interest once he gobbled...
I cut his gobble of with my Ebony/Maple Morgan box..... with a barrage of cuts and yelps... He dropped out of strut,
he was about 300 yards, and looked my direction.... He then went back in and gobbled 4 times in about 30 seconds..
on the 4th gobble, I poured it to him again... He walked 250-300 in full strut dragging hens behind him... I pounded
him at 20 yards.. He never flopped....
Big ol beard, we usually don't have big beards... 12 1/8 on the beard and 1 1/16 sharp spur and the other spur was
broken half way... I should have weighed him, but didn't... He was a big ol 3 year old bird....
Thanks for the box Morgan, I assume that box will see a few more die...

Mr. Eddleman, as soon as I got to Maggie's house, Marlee asked me had I told Mr. Eddleman yet... I laughed and told her
that I had JUST killed the turkey!

Hope your season is going well..
