If you are waiting on a package from me, it may not get to the PO until this weekend.... having a bit of a car problem and haven't been able to figure it out. I've been catching a ride to & from work and working on it in the evenings. Hope to figure it out before I have to send to the Car Dr and spend more money than the old car's worth!

Any mechanics here that can offer advice???
Car started with no problems the other day and I drove it to work. At lunch got in and started it up no problem and started to go home, then it started sputtering and barely made it back to my parking spot where it died. It started back up & idled, when I gave it gas it sputtered and died. Went thru that several times. Now it wont even start

I would say fuel pump or fuel filter...is it a Ford??

Just went thru the same thing with the wifes car... Fuel pump and filter... Fuel pump was in the gas tank 568$

Hi Shad . I own a car repair business and have made my living in the trade for many years . Certified Gm and ASE Master Mechanic .  It sounds like your fuel system is not working right . It is most likely your fuel pump . It won't be the filter because you would have noticed a problem with power and accelaration long before now . A clogged fuel filter can lead to the death of your fuel pump though . To everyone reading this, change your fuel filter every 30,000 miles to avoid any problems , very important ! Back to your car , when you gave it gas and then it stalled , tells me it is getting more air than fuel . Get a can of starting fluid and spray a couple shots straight into your air intake system . Pull the rubber tube away from the throttle body and spray directly past the throttle plate . Not very much , just 2-3 short sprays . Quickly reassemble the air hose and try to start the car . If it starts up or makes a good attempt to , it is probably the fuel pump which is located in the tank . Occasionally you will find a failed fuel pump relay is the cause also . Make sure to test for voltage and ground at the fuel pump connector . If your circuits are complete then it is the fuel pump that is faulty . If you have any questions PM me or call me 937-270-3299

 Thanks for the kind words . I run one of those hometown kind of businesses . I know every customer by name and greet them every time I see them . I always say I try to treat my customers the same way I want to be treated when I am in their shoes . I even charge alot less than most , simply because that's what I would want to be charged . I've been a Chevy/GM mechanic since I was a teenager . Learned everything under a bowtie !! I specialize in driveability and electronics . And I'll work on anything that burns gas , fires projectiles or calls turkeys , lol . Thanks again .

X2! I've not come across many that are willing to divulge that much detail unless they are a hobby mechanic. Man, if I lived close to you the car would be at your shop this morning! I will give this a try today after work and see what I get.

Well it's a 1995 Nissan Sentra and has been a trouble free car for over 180K+ miles. This is the first problem I've had with it but I know if it is a fuel pump and the bill is anywhere close to $500 I will probably looking for a "new" used car.
