It's a sad time, but FYI OSAGE ROOST will be pulling the plug at the end of the month. It's been a great 15 years since the start, but it's hardly ever used now and time to move on!
The drawback to using a scroll saw is that you can't cut wood that is very thick . You lose cutting power and the fine control of a scroll saw when you use woodstock that is very thick . I agree with Gregg , choose a band saw , at least 10 " .
Shad, I hear you but as others have said and I agree, get a band saw, even if a 'smaller' bench type. The band saw for your needs has far more flexibility in what it offers over the long run. Look at it this way, the band saw can do anything and much more than a scroll saw, but the reverse is not so.
Actually I lied. I even start the radius for my paddle on the bandsaw...LOL!!
