Trigg made a Turpin style trumpet yelper I believe beginning in the 70's and through the 80's. I dont have Mickels book to check the dates with. Anyhow, he made them with different diameter mouthpieces to create a hen, jake, and gobbler note. To identify the call he used different colored lip guides/test tube stoppers in green, brown, and black. The calls were simple and utilitarian and typically made of walnut with a brass ferrule and a plastic mouthpiece.
From a historic standpoint, there are some who argue that it was in fact Jacobs who made first the interchangeable mouthpieces later patented by Hearn and Whedon. I've never seen a Jacobs caller with an interchangeable mouthpiece to support this theory. I have seen a Jacobs yelper which was modified to have a bone mouthpiece which had many collectors convinced it was an actual Turpin.
