SSN to the NWTF
« on: March 07, 2011, 11:18:31 AM »
I just got a call from Karen telling me the NWTF needs my Social Security number so they can process the check I have coming to me for sale of my calls at the silent auction in Nashville.  Anybody else here not comfortable offering that info up?  Midwest didn't need my SSN to cut a check for my half, don't see why  NWTF headquarters needs it.  Curious to your thoughts.

Perhaps...but if Mid-west didn't need it then I wouldn't think Nat's doesn't need it either or else mid-west is hiding behind a lead curtain.  Tell them they can file a 1099 and as far as your considered Ed if the $ is less than $600-$650 then I don't 'think' you need to worry about it tax-wise, but check with your accountant.  Just my $.02 and I won't send you a 1099 for this either *lol*

I would go with the 1099 you are a business not an employee.

I'm going to give her a call tomorrow.  From what I have been told by multiple people, it is under $600 so no need for a 1099 or my SSN.  I'll keep you posted on it .

I talked to an accountant at the NWTF and she wanted to have all of the callmakers SSN on file in case they pay out more than $600 to an individual in a calendar year.   ???  I told her my 1/2 was well under that and they wouldn't be paying me more than that this year so she didn't need to have my SSN or file a 1099.  She understood and said she'll release the check.

I don't need my SSN floating around in more places than it already is now.  I'm glad we got it resolved.   *up*

I talked to Karen and told her i sure didn't want to give out my ssn.  Karen is awesome!  She took care of it and all is well.  It really bothers me that the NWTF ask for my ssn.
