A bit of advice
« on: March 04, 2011, 07:55:31 AM »
With what I've went through the last two days, just wanted to share something.

Some of you know now, but my son has been getting checked out extensively at the hospital.  He caught the flu earlier this week and all of a sudden, he couldn't walk.

We spent a lot of time getting test ran yesterday and I just sat their helplessly.  I had no idea what was wrong or what they could do.  At one point, they thought his kidneys had failed.  I never have been so scared in my life.

All I could do was hold my son and try to make him feel better.

Work has been taking a toll on me lately.  I had only gotten 7 hours of sleep in 2 days.  That sleep wasn't very good.  I stayed up way too late and was just getting ready to get some sleep when I checked my work email and I saw I needed to be there today.

I'm at work and my mind isn't really here.  In the end, they found out my son was just having massive muscle spasms and it was due to the flu.  Of course my son gets diagnosed with the flu right after a 27 year old boy died from it in my home town.  The kid was too young for that to happen.

Sometimes I feel like I forget the simple things and do not remember to tell my son and wife I love them everyday.   I was feeling pretty low about myself yesterday.  Work is starting to overcome me and I need Spring to get here.

Hopefully my son will re-gain his strength and be read to go again!  For those that know and prayed for his health, thank you so much!  It was much needed and appreciated during this time!

May God give you and especially your son and your wife strength at this time.  You are so right, every moment is a blessing with our kids.

I'm glad to hear that the diagnosis has a positive outlook. God is good!

Mike, I think at times we tend to be harder on ourselves as we are our own worst critics.

You're sure right about that Mr. P - family & friends are the truly important issues in life; the rest is just gravy & trimmin's ...

... all my best to your son, your wife, & to you, my friend - hope to hear of Mitch's speedy & complete recovery soon ...

Nothing tugs at you like your sick child . I can remember sitting in the hospital one night with my oldest daughter . She was only 2 at the time and she got really sick . At first they told us it was spinal meningitis and she might not survive it . You talk about feeling crushed ! Luckily they were wrong and it was a simple virus that she did recover from . Thank the Lord !!!
Hang in there bud . I am glad to hear it was just the virus that had him in so much trouble . Now get him out there and get him a big Tom this spring !!!!
