Sandhill crane wingbones are something that I've just started to work with. I sent my prototype to the man that sent me the bones. I don't make mine this long. I particularly like the mouthpiece because it is so flat. He called me the day he got his and said it sounded better than any of his other wingbones. He said it had more "pop" and was extremely easy to play. The thinness of the bones is a plus. Quite a bit thinner than turkey bones.
Great work, Jim. Your work is always admirable.
