In keeping with my mission of producing great sounding scratch boxes from exotic woods, I am putting two Flame Red Box Elder Scratch Boxes on Ebay later tonight. These are very unique. I have arranged for more wood , but it is green and I might not even be able to use it in 2012! The same beetle that attacks maple (the ambrosia beetle) is responsible for the red "flames" in box elder! There ain't a whole lot of box elder out there, folks, and even less with beetles in it just before harvest! And I'll wager that there isn't another scratch box maker working on a set right now, either. You have got to see these to appreciate them. Here is a picture of call #1 of 2.
