So many great calls are made from Yellow Poplar, how come we don't see calls made from Tulip Poplar? We have them growing a lot around here in upstate NY I also know they do well down to the MD line and they all grow straight as an arrow, I mean straight and upwards of 100 ft tall in many cases--now that's a mess of box calls! So my thought would be with such beautiful straight grain, why not use it for box calls? I suspect it might be too soft, but doubtful considering how soft yellow poplar and butternut can be. I have never thought about looking for a source since I never see calls posted with its use.
