My good friend Doc sent me a piece of spalted pecan burl a while ago, it was about 2 3/4" square so I put it up to dry for a while longer and forgot about it. I was looking for some persimmon and came across the pecan blank, and decided I would do something with it. After cutting it, I decided the bell would need special attention, so I tenoned a piece of African Blackwood into the end of the blank. While turning, it looked tan colored and kind of blah, when I shut the lathe off I was amazed, it was anything but. You never know what is inside! Thanks for looking, Dave
