Small Engine Trouble

Hey guys, I need a little help. While I was at work, my wife decided to use our blower to blow the leaves out of the yard. She ran out of fuel, and refueled with strait gas. She said she ran it for about five minutes and it then it shut off. I poured the fuel out and replaced it with the right fuel. I havent been able to get it started, so I was wondering if any of you know what can be done to get it running again? Its fairly new, and I take good care of it. I just hope the strait fuel didnt ruine it Thanks ya'll

Sounds like it seized up! I'd suggest taking it to a small engine repair shop. It needed that mixture of oil and fuel to keep the cylinder lubed.

My kids did the same thing with my leaf blower.  I got lucky and after it cooled down it broke free. I had to pull on the cord pretty hard to break it free but after it did it has run fine since. If you can't get it to break loose you wil have to take it in. If the cylinder walls didn't get scored to bad you may get lucky enough to get by with a honing and a set of rings. Good luck

Its broke loose, but it just wont roll over and start

Not sure if it'll help but I would try changing the spark plug.

Note to all. You should add something like STA-BIL fuel additive to all your gasoline storage containers. 
The ethanol in gas today will really mess up small engines.

Make sure you get the one for marine engines and don't be afraid to put SOME in. You can't overdose it.
Cleaned a carb last week, looked like chalk in it.

i got it cranked! It will only crank on the run position. If I tryto cold start/choke it, she wont crank. I put her in the start position, she rolls right over. But....it doesnt stay on long, and after that she smokes like no other. So...what do ya'll think. You think I'm wasting my time and shoud buy a new one, or keep trying to bring it around?

 Try removing the spark plug and cranking it over at least 20 times (with the fuel shut off) to clear the cylinder . Then replace the spark plug with a new one . It sounds like it may be hydro-locked with oil and fuel which can make it difficult to crank the engine. If you clear it out really good  first , with a new plug , it may fire-up and stay running on it's own. It's hard to diagnose without being there , but I make my living building and repairing engines. Wish I could see it in person. Good luck !

How old is the unit? If it is older, the muffler could be plugged with varnish. Every couple years I take the METAL muffler off of my weed eater, fill it with charcoal lighter, place it on a rock in the driveway and burn it. Varnish in the muffler will create back pressure that will keep the motor from running. Also clean or replace the air filter.
