I agree with you.  Ever since E-Bay started hiding bidders identities I've been a bit uneasy with the sales prices of many calls.

You have every right to be suspicious -- here's the bidder list:

I was in Co-op in Lynchburg, TN last spring buying a chainsaw. On the endcap next to the cash register, they had a few calls, gloves, facemasks, and other turkey hunting related items. Some of the stuff had been there for a few years it looked like. I was surprised to see that a Doug Camp Unfair Advantage box call was sitting there brand new in the box for $25. Best $25 dollars I ever spent. Thing is 100% turkey.

The same bidder just bought four more calls, if you see him on the list you might as well not bid you won't touch him.

That bidder has been jacking up the price on callers for the past year. He will pay more for a call off the bay then what it would cost to order from the callmaker! Either he has a lot of money or several maxed out credit cards! *lol*

Whitt will be very happy for that sale. It is nice to see a callmaker get a huge price for a caller. He purchased a Jesse Hayes caller for $425 today. There are 4 bidders that are competing against each other to purchase callers off the bay in recent months!

I have a dozen or more Of Jess Hayes' calls. I never paid more than $40 for a slate or boxcall, and I have gotten a beard with most all of them. Someone really wanted that call , to have run the price so high. Doug camp's longboxes are really great sounding calls but that fella paid twice what it is worth in today's market. I wish I had his number , I would sell him a few calls !!

Price is simply what someone is willing to pay.  Based on E-Bay it would appear that Doug's calls have drastically increased in price since he passed away.  Only a few short years ago he sold them for far less than that...
Yeah, and all it took was for Neil Cost to just quit making calls and the prices skyrocketed. You could get those for $75.00.
I wish I had bought one of Doug's longboxes back when I had a chance. I do have an Unfair Advantage and as said previously, they are all turkey. I bet Dick Kirby boxes will soar too.
