Got my belly full of deer meat so it's back to work
« on: November 24, 2010, 05:51:38 PM »
It's time to get some calls finished for Christmas. I've come up with a new idea of a picture on the side of the box. I'm not sure I like the mountains with sunrise. What would be a good thing to fill up the call side with or would it be better and not so busy to just leave the birds on the limb and nothing else? I personally think you can get to much "stuff" on it. Also there are some inperfections on the bottom call that didn't sand out. It's natural gray wood and a worm hole from it's previous life as a fence post. I think that gives it caracter. What do you think?

I want them all........  ;D  Honestly I like it both ways. Have you thought about instead of mountains doing some pine trees off in the distance?

Yeah, I've thought about that but wasn't sure of it. I may try that before long since you mentioned it. Thanks for the input. I appreciate it a lot.

Personally I don't like too much art work on a call I think the turkeys incorperated with the fence post and the barbed wire are enough. The Mts. with the sunrise seem to crowd the call but may work if they were smaller.
As far as the imperfections are concerned I like them as that is part of the beauty of the wood. You do a beautiful job on your calls and the art work you put on them I hope to have you build one for me in the future.

David as always very nice work but I'm with Turkeybuster on this one. I like the cleaner look with out the mountains and IMO to much takes away from the look of the wood.  Bill

Thanks
After I got started on the sun and mountains, well, I was committed. That will be a last on that one. I appreciate your responses. I don't care for it at all, so I posted it for your responses. That how a body learns.

Oh,
The wife told me she didn't like the idea before I started. *wha*
