Striker Question

I was given a few antlers by a buddy that farms deer (ugly racks!!). I want to make some striker tops out of them. Should I hollow them out to give a different sound or leave them solid?

I tried them both and prefer to hollow them out. Antler is real heavy and kills the sound, JMO

Only have one, it is hollow and is OK!

this   is  true...i   have  turned  a  couple  and  had  to   thin  the  tops  down  a  good   bit  to   get  a  good   sound....  and  Shad  there  was   no  pun  intended  but  just   like  everything  else  i   may  prefer  one  and  you  my  like  the  other...only  real  way  to   tell  is  try  both

Craig, no worries    I'm gonna give it a shot and see what I can come up with. I figured that I got the free horns, I might as well do something with them

Shad being that I'm in an onry mood... you could hollow part and leave the other half solid
