I was out tonight and saw 8 longbeards and 6 hens in two separate groups . The gobblers were fighting and wing-beating each other for nearly an hour . I am getting anxious for opening day . I also saw 12 deer near me . Two bucks , aged 2.5 yrs were carrying those tempting 120" racks. They will be better left for another year at least . I have a spot picked out for opening day , where the turkeys water at a stock pond in the mornings. I will be there waiting with my 14 yr old daughter , Rachel, when the sun comes up on Oct. 9th !!!  She has been jinxed by turkeys so far. She has come very close to putting one in the freezer but hasn't pulled it off yet. She is a great hunter and has killed several bucks, her first when she was 11. Good luck to everyone !
