Well after waiting 8 LONGGG months, I was back in my treestand yesterday . I had a fantastic day in the woods . I saw a button buck and a doe that passed under me in the morning as well as 33 turkeys. Thirteen of them were mature Toms, they were the first group to work through. Unfortunately , turkey season is still two weeks away. I got to hear a lot of vocalization from those birds. In the afternoon I moved my climber to another section of woods and after 30 minutes, the deer started working by me. I had a total of 8 does and a young six point come by . That was like sitting in the restaurant pouring over the menu. Well I finally had a super old and mature doe come by and she decided to sniff the tree I was in trying to figure out what she was smelling . I took a couple of pics on my cell phone , of her head and the tree trunk ! As she moved away from my tree I released a goldtip arrow, fronted by a 3 blade Rage warhead. I put it right in the lungs and she ran a mere 40 feet , fell over and expired within less than a minute. I was hunting alone , in the hills of southern Ohio, so getting the deer , my treestand , bow and backpack , out of the woods was a real chore. She is all processed and I am taking the day off to recover ! Good luck to everyone this fall.
