Old skool
« on: September 22, 2010, 05:26:29 PM »
This is a traditional Native Americn style birch bark moose call, I made this call for a local fellow who will be going on a moose hunt soon. A lot of hunters ride the roads looking for an "easy" moose, but miss out on the thrill of calling one in. The call is used to amplify natural voice calling, it helps if one knows what a moose sounds like. They are fairly easily called and breaking branches and calling will usually fire one up, it is best to have one guy calling for the hunter, they can cover a lot of ground in a hurry, and when they are in rut can be somewhat agressive.
It was a fun call to make, I may do a little more to it if he wants it woodburned, but I'm calling it a day for now.
Thanks for looking, will have more tomorrow! Dave

The rifle is a custom made by Wilderness Rifle Works, she has a few extras, Getz barrel, etc, her name is "Deathwind"  ;D. The possibles bag and powder horn were made by my good friend, blacksmith and master bladesmith Larry Fuegan, who was my neighbor. We shared a lot of common interest in knives and black powder hunting, then he moved to Phoenix Arizona and I got the bag and powder horn just before he left. The knife is a old Bowie 1800's, nothing special really, just a neat look, (I need to make a period sheath for it,lol)
