Thanks for the welcome. For those of you that have no clue who Gobblerunner is I'll tell you and most of you still won't know. I'm Randy Sullivan formally of Hemlock NY and now in Plympton MA. I've been making calls for a long time and am in Earl Mickel's last book. I took a sabatical for a while to focus on Long Boxes and basically nothing else. I love the dam things and have been experimenting for a long time. I had a lot of help from some great folks over the years and if I could do anything over it would be to get some of my early calls back. Callmaking isn't something you wake up one day and decide to do. It's something that takes a very long time to perfect. You need to listen and observe and learn what woods work and what doesn't. I don't think you need to be artistic, I think you need to decide after time what you want to be good at. I decided to make long paddle callers and that's what I've been focused on for the past 2 years. I'll post some pictures when I get a chance but the basic look hasn't changed a heck of a lot. What has changed is the time I put into them. I hope to see what I can continue to learn from you folks but it's really about calling in longbeards for me so they are my judge. I think some of the best folks I've ever known I have met through callmaking. Hope to meet more of you. I gotta tell you, the icons on this page are freaking me out.
Randy
