Well what a morning I had. Was in birds all morning. Just never could close the deal
Farmer on Monday said he had clear cut most of the farm. So curiosity got the best of me and around 7:30 this morning, I got out of the blind and walked down the road. Why I left my bow behind, I'll never know.
Anyways, I'm about 2 to 300 yards away from my setup and I pull out my KP trumpet. I start messing around and I hear a hen respond. I start cutting and yelping on it and a long box and next thing I know, I have a hen 10 yards away. No weapon and my face and hands are exposed. She alarm putts and I keep her around. The woods were erupting with kee kee's and yelps.
Go back to my setup, and @ 8:30 I have 10 good sized hens 60 yards in front of me. I could not get them to budge and I had to settle to watch them.
Pretty darn good morning for me. Saw one buck (decent sized) right at daybreak and that was about it. This farm has a good turkey population, so maybe this weekend I can score!
So all in all, no bowling balls were sent down range today
