I have this box and it is probably as nice a piece of wood I have seen. The workmanship is second to none. For a burl or any wood the left side is extremely good. Plenty of roll over and rasp and purrs and kee's are outstanding. The right is good as well. BUT, this box is so beautiful, it would be wrong to take it in the woods. This is a showpiece. Finish, workmanship wood and style.....AWESOME, Gary, this is a Awesome Box! Ambonya Burl and Purpleheart lid.

I also received a pocket shorty made from Butternut and a Osage lid. Great sound, most unusual design I have seen and I wold take it to the woods any day. Will do it all! has PLENTY of rasp, roll over and three distinct notes on each side. Anyone can call me on SKYPE and I will play them for you. I will post my pictures of both in a day or two. Gary this is a winner. Well built and awesome sound! That little washer made from earplug works danged well!

You will be busy when these get in some serious hunters hands. And collectors as well! Great job!!

Mike, thank you very much for your  words , you are too kind!!! A friend of mine , the one who had the earplug idea, showed me what type of sound to shoot for on my boxes, he really is a smart and good friend. I really don't know too much about the technical aspect of call making, such as the 3 note sound you were talking about. I sure would like to learn more about call making. Actually, it was his grandson that I designed the first shorty for, except a little smaller, so he could hold it in his small hands. I was surprised at the sound, so I made it a little bigger. It has been my best seller ever sense. As for the decorative box, I am glad you like it. That wood really makes the call, it is so gorgeous. As for the sound, I didn't want to push the tuning too far, because I have ruined several nice boxes by trying to push the tuning too far, to get a sound I wanted. You can take the wood out, but you can't put it back in. Again Mike, Thank you very much for your too kind words! It really means a lot to me, Gary
