all wood grunt calls
« on: September 06, 2010, 08:50:05 PM »
For you guys that have all wood grunt calls, what do they sound like compared to the ones with the tubes on them? I heard a all wood grunter on you tube made by a custom maker and it sure didnt sound like a buck grunt to loud and sounded terrible. I have purchased two grunters with tubes on them sound pretty good. Would really like a all wood one but just wondering about the sound. I have tried to get a hold of some custom makers recommended to me  but I cannot get any answers back... lookin for more sugguestions   Thanks  Jim

I have a hardbody grunter that sounds great, even better than some of the ones that come with a "tube" on it.  A guy named Richard, from Ozark custom calls made it, I haven't seen him on here in quite a while.

Yes I have tried to contact him, even on his website and have had no reply I thought his grunters looked nice but I would of like to heard one...

Try Russell Beard at beardhunterturkeycalls, he's in GA and makes a pretty good sounding call.

Mark Rainbolt, Richard Meagher, Mose, and I am sure there are other who make hardbody deer calls. If you look down in Other Calls, you will see a post titled New Zealand calls. This is an adjustable tone deer call that I make, will do mature buck to doe to fawn bleats. This is a field grade call, I also make them with bands and exotic woods for those who like that classic look.
Here is one done in osage I posted a while back, field grade verson, just made another one of these this weekend in flamed osage
