I say build your trumpets in any design you choose and be happy, just like the pot call makers and box call makers do... ;)
Dare to be different.........

I like the first design better. Just loose the knot. Unless the bigger bell is need for the sound. If it sounds great I would not care what it looks like. A soft easy to call on your is a good thing. keep them coming.

Spur,  I never said your call didn't sound good, are anything  negative about the looks. I never would say anything negative about yours and anyone else's calls. I just have grown tired of you tooting your own horn............. if your going to talk shiiiit about the awesome sounding ....KILLERS.....you build, then you need to have the a....zz to back it up.............. ;D
So, The sound file you posted of  HMMMM's call wasen't your doing......then who did you post it for.... ::)  I do remember another wing bone sound file you did.....was that someone elses too..........Come clean Erb...tell us the truth, you can do it....it will make you feel better.....We are all friends here.... ;D

As far as me copying AJ's call..........When I built my first wooden transition wing bones, the only thing I had seen out of AJ was his marine epoxy joints.....and I told him so....I did stop making those types of transitions after seeing some pics of his mastadon ivory transitions which was probablly done before mine.

I build my wing bone calls now with a middle section of wood that I turn on my lathe......... :)  Would you like a pic..... 8)

If your going to play the game, play by the rules.....

Erb,  I gotta admit, you did shake cOx up pretty dang good.......I heard from several folks from over on the sunny side that he was so mad that he banned half of them.  Thank God, that you and I had already been banned.  If not it would not have been pretty....... ROTFLMBO   ROTFLMBO

I did here from a couple over there that he was about to change his design since you had copied it..........   Word is, he was going to let Kang help in the design......... ;D  I'm just saying ...I hear thangs....  ;D

I had to modify this post spurt,  just to add a couple/few of these that I forgot.................. *lol*  *lol*  *lol*

Lose the bump..................pretty steep for someone just starting to turn trumpets. But then again, if it does everything from lost poult to gobbler
they may be worth that.

Quote from Southern Spur...
I charge what I do, out of respect for those that came before., The price of Proven Trumpet Makers Price's, and the price of a good Quality Box call. They will go up, and they will be hunted.
[/quote]

 Hi guys ,
Sorry to butt in on your disagreement , but I have to ask why you are charging so much and saying it's out of respect for past callmakers and the price of proven trumpetmakers prices.  The way I see it , the proven callmakers are the ones that should charge that price, not someone who is still in their learning curve. How does that show respect for someone... to charge what they charge because they have earned the reputation. Sorry that doesn't make sense. I can't charge as much as Neil Cost did , out of respect for him and the prices he set !!!
And I wonder why you guys are so worked up about trumpets, after all fellas , they are all different versions of Tom Turpins original. Or did everyone forget who invented this call ???  In my personal opinion, the hump on this new trumpet looks a little bit like Steve Turpins Genie Bottle Trumpet. Just go to Turpincustomgamecalls and take a look. Steve Turpins calls are proven winners and that call sells for about $85.00  . I have some excellent trumpets by some real masters , that didn't cost as much as you are asking. Most were alot less.
I don't mean any disrespect for you or your calls, I am just a little confused by your pricing and reasoning behind it . And the WHOLE trumpet controversy ! ????     Thanks for listening !  Keep up the good work Spur !

If I'm going to pay $160 for a call, it better look better than that crooked stick.  For that price it better play, and look a dang sit better than what is being offered.

Nope, but apparently some have forgotten!!!!!!
How many ways can one build a trumpet with out infringing on someone else? Who holds the market on them? What about box calls? Do they fall under a differant catagory?

They must be charging you more for calls Spur  ;)

I've got calls from Hornstra, Permar, Cox, Buice, Sentell, McLain and Pedalahore.  2 of those 7 were right at $200, and 2 were a sight less than your $160.  In fact, Kenny's was a tank of gas for my Corolla less than you $160.  None of them used a compression fitting for a ferrule either.

That's twice now that you've said I was close with Frank- or insinuated that he has put me up to writing what I have.  I'm a little ashamed that you would think so.  Remember, I was a member of the Sunny Side at the same time you were.  I remember reading all of your posts pumping up Frank, or have you forgotten?
I've only commented because, like many others, I'm a little taken back with the thought that you deserve such a high price for your calls, considering the fact that the callmakers I listed above took years to get to the pricing they are at.

As for the calls being crooked- that may have been harsh.  The hump does look lopsided on the purpleheart call though, as well as the base of the mouthpiece looks to have a definate slope.

But then again, what am I, except a potential customer?

Spur, I don't know you nor do you know me; but, you are not doing your trumpet buisness any good with all this bickering back and forth. You have the right to sell your product at what ever price you choose. But, you don't have any out right now. No one to say, "man, I've got to have one of Southern Spurs trumpets". Go back and read all of your post with an objective mind and decide if you would buy a call from yourself. They may do every thing you say they will and that's good. I have several trumpets myself from well know callmakers and apparently I've been fortunate not to have to pay $200.00.

I tell you what, you lose the bump, send me one to play, if it whistles with a high kee, then has the ability to do gobbler yelps, I'll vouch for your calls.
