I had been chasing this old boy all spring long. 2 days before my birthday I told my wife that I had to go back in the woods one more time and try again to call him in. I had thrown everything at this guy- dekes, no dekes, took 2 buddies for calling, ambush, no calls, etc.... he always gobbled and let me know he was there and I always got a glimpse of him but never would he come in.
The wednesday of that week I got my new glass over slate from Leather's Archery and had to try it out. Boy that new "hen" in the woods brought him to life!!! He flew down about 45 yards off and strutted all the way.
