Couple of firsts and one LAST!
« on: July 11, 2010, 09:52:33 AM »
Made my first Track Player in olive wood yesterday and the shop still smells of the stuff. Pretty wood with lots of figure but just like cedar, the stuff just hangs in my beard way too long for comfort.

The one on the right is more to my liking, the cadiallac of the Kingwood family, Camatillo. Alot more purplish than Kingwood, finishes up nicely with a deep purple, violet, and I guess what you might call mahogany finish. Pretty cool piece of wood with the purple rainbow running thru the sapwood. Awesome sound from it too.

Thanks fer lookin'

thanks bud, yeah that and Kingwood it seems. Only bought this because it said it was in the Kingwood family cuz far as width I can't find anymore Kingwood. Far as sound it does carry the same awesome note/tone but it's a much harder wood than Kingwood. I like it but it's probably gonna be a rare wood for track players if for nothin' else but the cost of the stuff. ALOT higher than Kingwood..................if all goes well I'll have more than 22.00 per pot in the wood alone and it hardly ever goes well... :P

So Spur, I may need anutter pig, a little one like Gus had on Lonesome Dove sos I can kick it and run quicker than it...... ;D
