I found a couple bows up in the closet, and I know nothing about them.

One has written on it: Bear P.9933- 35#  (think this is a longbow?)

The other has: ben pearson buckmaster 7452
                       6735-179
                       R (or a P)MO-52"
                       45#    28"

If anybody knows their approximate value, I'd appreciate it.... Thanks!

I don't know their value , but I say the longbow is worth more as a collector .

The 52" recurve may have some value , monetarily , but as a hunting bow those short ones are tough on the fingers ans well as the release , and do not have as good of cast as the 60" and longer recurves .

Not sure about the Pearson bow.

But what else is on the Bear? Should be a name on the upper limb and a patent stamp on the lower limb. Patent location Grayling more desireable to collector.

On the Bear it says "Pat. Applied For". I'd take a picture, but my cameras full up of moving inventory pictures, sorry.

If I'm not mistaken the patent was awarded in 1953 so I would say that bow is an early one. Although they started making bows in the early 30's.
The patent was for the use of fiberglass laminations.

Any other markings?

That's all I can recall seeing on it.

Annie, That is "AMO" on the bow..."Archery Manufacturing Organization"  standardized how to measure bow length and pull weight....Ben Pearson is somewhere in the $100 range to the right person...need more info on the Bear...is it all wood; wood and glass; leather covered grip: pistol grip or straight grip; thick heavy ends on the limbs or not; width of limbs: length overall....pictures would help...if it is in good shape a minimum would be $100 and max probably about $400...lots of variables

Okay, I'm due in a couple days for the packers to come in. So pictures will have to wait. Guess I should of just waited to ask until I get to Oregon with this move. Right now running around like a chicken with it's head cut off trying to get things sorted.
