Scratchers

We have MANY Scratch box builders on this forum that build awesome scratch boxes. If one were to just buy 25 that are built by Osage Roost members you still wouldn't "scratch" (pun intended) the surface! One of the most under estimated calls made!

Yes they are.  I wish I was better at playing them.  I remember Al playing one once.  I swore it was a box call! 

I've heard many other people since then and at Nashville, it was amazing watching the truly pros run them.  Some of these guys are unbelievable.  Since I was born with two left hands... I buy them, but leave the playing to the real scratchers!

          Wingbones, trumpets and scratch boxes are the most underrated calls made.....

          With lots of practice, they will become very deadly tools in the turkey woods....

Al made a beleiver out of me on the scratchers this past season I tried one out on a old bird that wouldn't work on any call. The next to the last day of our season I tried him on the scratcher the first call I wasn't sure I heard a bird the second call he was on his way the third call he was 35 yds. The down side was the undercover was soo thick I couldn't make the shot. Can't blame that on the scratcher but the bird was right there in less than 5 min. hope he still likes it in the fall.

I love scratchers also.  They are a blast to make and even more fun to play. These are my first scratchers:
These have aluminum inside.

Changed them a little to come up with these:
scratch/slate combos

Then I made this the other day. Its my first try at this type of scratcher, but it does sound good:
cherry and walnut

Those are very nice James! The half moons have always fascinated me.

Thanks Mike, I wanted my own design, so that is where the halfmoons come from. They are a pain to build, but so worth it when they are done.
