Have you ever been there ?
« on: May 01, 2010, 02:47:11 PM »
I took my best friend out for a morning turkey hunt a week ago. We separated and set up on opposite ridges , with the intention of keeping in contact by way of text messaging. The morning started off great , except that my partner was not responding to my texting. After a few hours, I was ready to stretch my legs a bit and I decided we should move to another farm for the remainder of the hunt. After several attempts to locate my friend, I figured I better look for him where I left him in the dark earlier. I usually whistle to him to get his attention but today I was getting no response. I was a little concerned but I looked earnestly for him. Suddenly I look over to my left in the bushes and I spot something I recognize. I set up the video camera and took video footage while I tossed dirt clods at my buddy, who didn't even budge. These early mornings have a way of wearing on you. Have you ever been there ? I know I have !!! LOL   This is just how I found him ! *aah* *aah*

That is priceless! Something very similar happend to me in SC some yeras back. My X-brother-in-law asked me to come deer hunt w/ him in the Clemson area. We took his boat across a lake to some public hunting ground and seperated. There were numerous old logging roads and we agreed to meet in a few hours where two crossed. I got to the meeting place but no BIL. I began to work my way in the direction he had gone and in less than quarter mile found him fast asleep...gun proped up against a tree beside him. I took off my boots and slipped over to the tree, removed his rifle, and walked back down the road about 100 yards, about a half hour, he woke up, stretched, stood up to get his rifle.................the look on his face when he couldn't find it was.......PRICELESS!

Been there several times. Last time was a few years back during deer season. A squirrel ran across my leg and scared the crap out of me.

I feel asleep once hunting a food plot with a decoy in South Carolina, only to wake and find a hen circling my decoy giving her two kinds of  *poo*, pecked her in the head and took off! *awake*
