Sound board question

Ok guys, I have been making pot calls for several years now but my question is, does anyone or is anyone still using wood sound boards anymore? I love the way they sound but I have shyed away from them and have been using glass and slate. Don't get me wrong, glass and slate sound great as well but to my sawdust filled ears, I honestly think I like wood the best. Comments?

You gonna make fun of me again for replying first??? Richard Meagher at Ozark convinced me and Adam that wood is the only way to go on glass an we agree! We are only putting wood sound boards in our glass pots unless someone wants something different. They work good  on slate for a mellow old hen sound. I don't know if we will ever do one on copper, but we are gonna try one on Aluminum.

One of my favorite calls is a crystal over cherry soundboard!!  I love the sound of it.

Like he said above, wood is the way to go. I have heard calls with a slate sound board and they sounded good. I made one with a slate sound board and won't be making another. It's so humid down here that the sound changes based on the humidity. At least that is why I took it to be so inconsistent. I guess if you sealed the slate first it would cure that problem, but I won't try it again.
