New Striker Design need honest opinions
« on: March 07, 2010, 08:51:47 AM »
I like this one Adam not so much (he has to turn them) we are still going to do the regular one's also. Please tells us what you think!

Mike,

I really like that design. Looks like it would have the needed weight on top and still have a real sleek look as well. I like a fine striker almost as much as a fine pot call. What wood is that shown?

Mike.

I agree with what Rickey said.  The only thing I would like to see on that design is a bit of a flared tip.  I know when I first started running potcalls , many years back, I personally found it a bit difficult to run a straight tapered striker like the one you posted.  I'm sure anyone that is new to running a potcall will find it a bit challenging.
I had this discusiion with a new callmaker a few years ago and he did wind up changing his design after having some newbies run his calls with a tapered striker.

The last thing you want is someone thinking that your calls aren't any good because they are having problems running the striker you sent along with the call.  ;)

Rickey that is Cocobolo Dymondwood! Lou I agree with the flared tip. Adam is going to start that on this striker. He does it on most of his regular strikers.

Mike,

I like the looks of the Coco Dymondwood!! I agree with Lou on the flared tip being more user friendly. I have run so many different strikers I actually think I can control the straight tip better now.

Looks good to me!  I'm indifferent on the type of tip, but I do believe the flare is easier for newbies...

That coco diamondwood is awesome!

Mike.

Personally I prefer a straight tip on my striker.  You can always offer the customer the choice of which they prefer. *cheers*
