Hard time
« on: February 26, 2010, 09:23:26 PM »
Forgive me for releasing some sorrow on you guys. But today I buried my best friend and hunting companion. Traveller was just a few days short of 12 years old and was by my side all of those 12 years. I still remember the day I picked her up, her retrieving the first duck I ever shot, and all the other good times we had together. I know that God only allows us to have these dogs for a very short time, and I also know how lucky I am that she and I shared so much together. As a friend of mine told me yesterday, "She lived a damned good life!"

Lee I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my best friend Jesse, (English Bulldog) on July 16th my birthday. They are gifts from God. You will never forget her. And I am one of those convinced that our pets will be in Heaven. Sorry again my friend!

Sorry for your loss.  I just received an email with this in it today:

The Story of Adam & Eve's Pet

Adam and Eve said, 'Lord, when we were in the garden, you walked with us every day. Now we do not see you any more. We are lonesome here, and it is difficult for us to remember how much you love us.'

And God said, 'I will create a companion for you that will be with you and who will be a reflection of my love for you, so that you will love me even when you cannot see me. Regardless of how selfish or childish or unlovable you may be, this new companion will accept you as you are and will love you as I do, in spite of yourselves.'

And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam and Eve.
And it was a good animal.
And God was pleased.

And the new animal was pleased to be with Adam and Eve and he wagged his tail

And Adam said, 'Lord, I have already named all the animals in the Kingdom and I cannot think of a name for this new animal.'

And God said, 'I have created this new animal to be a reflection of my love for you, his name will be a reflection of my own name, and you will call him DOG.'

Matt...

Sorry for your loss. They give so much to us through their loyalty and companionship. It is never easy to lose one but the memories we have from times shared with them are priceless.

Lee--wow, what can we say> any of us that has had companions knows exactly the way you feel. I have had the gift of 2 hunting buddies just like Traveler. My last loss was 4 years ago with a Golden Retreiver named Pride. He grew up duck hunting with me and went to work with me just about every day. He is one of those once in a lifetime dogs. Its just like loosing someone in the family I know.
Ya had a good run it sounds with Traveler and we can hold onto the memories until we once again are re-united.
I feel for ya man. Keep the memories as they are precious!!!
