Some of you know I play the Native American flute, and I just wanted to show you a couple of my prized flutes.
These are handmade and hand carved, drilled with fire in the traditional way, by Hawk Henries, of the Nipmuc Indian tribe,
a friend and one of the most reverant and respectful people I know. I learned many lessons from Hawk about life.
Hawk told me he was sitting at his table one morning, watching the birds at his feeder, and thinking to himself,
"this is serenity",,a falcon swooped down and made off with one of the birds, shattering his illusion,,until a new concept was formed,, rooted in acceptance. These and other stories removed some of the blinders which had been placed by cultural differences.
He also gave me the gift of music,,a way to express the deepest music of the soul, and a way to breathe the unexplainable and unutterable language of the heart.
