 Oh yea, I knew you were just stating your personal taste buddy. That's what I'm looking for, honest opinions.  I like Bills idea, offer both and everyone can have whichever they like. Thanks for the input everyone.

 As always ,I love the looks of your "brickcheck" . Neil Cost said that you can't do anything to the lid on a long box or it will hurt the sound. How do you like the sound of it? Can you notice a difference between that lid and an un-checkered one? None the less it is a great looking lid, great job, again!

 Bob,
   I've done longboxes with and without checkering on the lid. I've yet to find one that it hurt the sound of, and some I feel it actually helped the sound. It depends on the wood the lid is made of in my opinion. For example, a cedar lid, which is light to begin with would have to be left a touch thicker to allow for the removal of wood from checkering.. I've experimented with the checkering quite a bit, and tune the box before the lid is checkered. Honestly, I can tell very little if any difference after the checkering is done. If there is a difference, it's usually in the form of more vibration in the paddle which is a good thing. This is only my experience on my box. I can't speak for anyone else one this subject, just what works well for me. Thanks for the comments and opinions everyone, it's appreciated!
