A Keeper
« on: December 28, 2020, 07:28:39 AM »
The last keeper Turpin that I made was in 3/97.  I made it for my nephew from a piece of Whiskey Island Walnut next to the sapwood.  It had a persimmon lid and would do it all.  I showed it several times in Nashville and almost lost that call to Shawn Irish and several others.  It was nothing to look at but  I have been looking for some air dried walnut like that ever since.  Got to talking to fine Callmaker that had some and I got a few pieces.  Here is a call that is defiantly a keeper and will not get away from me this time!  I put a Whiskey Island piece of walnut for a lid.  Thanks for the look, Mr. E

That's a beauty! Love the look of a walnut box.

If a callmaker says it's a keeper...then it sings, nice call John.
