Do dats

I was given a call blank that was too small for my short boxes so I tried to make a small handled shortbox it sounded ok and I was told it looked like a do dat? Does anyone know the history on this call and is the internal dimensions the same as regular short box with just a handle added? I couldn't get the little one I made to run with a spring I removed it and it runs decent without one. I couldn't find much on the history of this call any help would be appreciated !

The Do Dat is a mini longbox.... The body with Handle is about 9 3/4 inches. It's made to play with out a spring.... Neil Cost got the name from His housekeeper .... It's a pretty funny story.
There a great call that's nasty raspy in sound.

Good post Josh!  I know several builders have made them over the years.  I was hoping some of those in the know might respond. Tricky little build I always heard.  I hope some others chime in.......

I don't know anything about building them, but I have one from Brent, and I also have one from Tim Bullock. Both calls are absolute smokers. I've hunted both calls multiple times, and will do so again.
