Moderator Change
« on: June 19, 2017, 08:37:59 PM »
Well, I hate to report that Bob Smith aka SilverSpur has decided to retire from being a moderator on Osage Roost. Bob took the rains back in Oct of 2013 and has always been a great asset to the forum. Agreeing to be a Mod on this site when OR was going through a lot of drama at the time. With his help and the other mods I'm very pleased to report that Osage has been 99.9% Drama free for a long time now. Bob also reports he has 2 years left before retirement and his Job is taking up all his time. It even limited his turkey hunting this year. Let's please give a standing ovation to Bob Smith for his service to Osage Roost!
... *bowing*... Here's to a great Retirement Bob! I know your looking forward to that day soon. Thanks for being so giving of your time to the site my friend....  *cheers*

Well, The Moderators took a vote and I want to introduce our newest Moderator to the Osage Roost Family. This member has helped out the site in the past.  He's a longtime member in good standing. We feel he will be able to fill the big shoes left by our friend Bob. In a day and time where social media is replacing the way people communicate. We have to work very hard to keep Osage Roost your one stop shop for everything turkey. So without further ado.....  We Welcome Patrick Hilbert aka KYTURKEY as the newest Moderator.  Patrick brings youth and a passion to help this site keep moving forward. Jon and I looking forward to working with Patrick on this project. Thanks Patrick for stepping up to the challenge ..... Thanks again Bob for your service!

First off, thanks to Porter for creating this wonderful site, and keeping it up and going for so many years.

Secondly, thanks to Bob for his years of service to Osage Roost. As Brent said, stepping up when the site was in a lot of turmoil. You did an excellent job, and when the time comes, a happy retirement.

Next, to Brent for suggesting me to be the next moderator. Brent has done so much for Osage Roost, and will continue to do so.

Lastly, I hope to help rebuild Osage Roost to what it once was.   I am here to work with Brent, Jon, and Porter to help with whatever is needed. Also, I am here to work with any members. Any suggestions, ideas, problems, or any other needs, please feel free to contact me.

Thanks Again,
Patrick

Thanks for everything Bob. Patrick thanks for stepping up. Brent, thanks for all your hard work to keep this forum going. I feel like Facebook has negatively effected this forum and other sites as well. I'd encourage all members to support OR by continuing to share your thoughts, ideas, and calls here, not just on other social media. Not everyone belongs to Facebook or wants to even though they are able to join. Many of us like a forum dedicated to turkey hunters. I'm not discouraging anyone from using any other site, just hoping that the hard work expended to start and maintain OR will continue to be utilized by everyone.

Thanks you all for the kind words.  It has been a pleasure to be a moderator here.  I have met so many great people that I now call friends and will remain friends with as long as I can breath.   Pat you will do a great job as the new moderator for this site, I have know doubt.

But for this to continue and continue strong, many of you use to post your calls on this forum, that seems to have faded away some.  We need you callmakers back here.  I understand Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. reaches the audience faster in some cases but what made this a great place was the number of call makers that posted there awesome talent here.  PLEASE COME BACK TO YOUR ROOTS. What was the past stays in the past but to move forward this site needs not only the very callmakers that frequented this site but the next generation of callmakers to show your skill and talent on Osage Roost.

Brent, your a maverick and my hat is off to you and Jon and now Pat.  Lets make Osage Roost Great Again and that takes everyone to feel free to share their talent and ideas to grow and become stronger again.  It can be done, Lets Get-R-Done.  I am not leaving the site just relinquishing my role as one of the moderators.  I will be watching and support where I can and when I can but the time is not now for me.

Thanks again everyone and lets get behind the moderators and beef up our support for this site.

Thanks Bob for a job well done it was a pleasure working with you these past few years. Patrick thanks for stepping up for the moderators job you will be a asset to this site I am sure. Also I look forward to working with you hopefully we can bring the site back to what it use to be. It is really going to be a challenge with all of the media out there but it can be done. We have a lot of good members and call makers as you know and we are at this point drama free. That is a good foundation to start building on. Brent is a great guy to work with and also a go getter and has a great passion to keep this site together and it don't get much better than that.

The Roost has been a great place for anyone who makes calls, loves custom calls and is just a turkey hunting nut in general. I have been as guilty as anyone for not posting and being involved as I could be to help keep the site active and strong. I will try to change that! I have made many good friends here and miss the sharing of work and camaraderie.

Hate to see Bob go but I can certainly understand. Thanks Bob!!!!👍

I am sure that Patrick will step in and do a great job!!  A fine young man he is and with the support he will have, I see nothing but good things ahead

First off, Bob I can never thank you enough.  I was ready to hang it up when Brent and Bob came to me.  They had Jon in the reins and asked me my thoughts.  I was relieved and said yes.  Some hard decisions were made and they all got my blessing.  I have not been on nearly enough or as much as I would love to be.  I miss the good ole days where I was doing my Porterisms and screwing up.  Unfortunately, this big thing called a JOB got in my way.  Now I travel all over and play Pickleball...  it's hard to explain, but it's became an addiction of mine!

Patrick, cannot thank you enough for stepping up and being willing to help out.  I started this site for the call makers...  I never wanted it to become a large forum and it has grown passed what I expected.  I've met a lot of great people from the site and some that have moved on even.  I sometimes wonder where these people have went.  A few, their interests went in other directions others have passed away (Bulldogmikey and augiedog55).

I understand, social media is the big ticket item today.  Way more clients to hit at the same time.  We have always listened to the members and always will!  If there is anything you think of to help the site, please let us know.

OsageRoost...  the tree that no one likes.. the calls no one likes to build...  but this crazy old fool would take a good piece of osage over any other wood any day!   I combined my favorite word with the item that everyone hopes when the bird comes off of, he lands in their lap :)   I've shot many of a bird sitting against an osage tree...  had a darn osage apple hit me in the head while hunting before, been spiked by the darn b*%^a$@! many of times too!

Forums have ups and they have downs.  We have several awesome contests and hoping we can come up together with a plan that will bring this site back to the front!

Well there goes me blabbing and I cannot thank you all enough!  Keep Brent honest and break Patrick in right  *lol*  Don't worry, he doesn't know how to ban anyone yet  *peep*
