Spalted or not Spalted

Cutting the last of my sycamore log. (Getting too old to Do this).  If you had a choice,  would you prefer a call from Spalted or not Spalted Snakebelly Sycamore? Also ran into a nail in this 150 year old tree. mr. E

Cool wood John!  I really like the patterns in sycamore.  And I think the unique patterns in the spalting makes each piece a stand alone work. My vote....I like it!

 I love using spalted sycamore in calls.. you would not no wrong using spalted sycamore in your calls,  yes,, use it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I like spalted everything.  The sycamore you use is always of the best careful selection.

The wonderful character and flecking of 1/4 sawn Sycamore combined with the spalting....how can ya beat that.  Looking forward to seeing you in Nashville John.

Love the sycamore! I been sitting on 3 large butt logs worth of spalted sycamore that is quite mineral stained as well. This will be thier year to grow feathers.
