Flintlock Shot Gun

Anyone know where I can get or who makes (custom or production) a true Traditional Flintlock Shot Gun???  I'd like to get one or get one made for turkey hunting.  Not interested in the modern precussion(sp?)  I'm lookiing for old school shot gunning.  Thanks---Jason

That would be a lot of fun. I do some flintlock hunting for deer since Pa has a designated season for it.

Very cool gun, thanks for the link.  I don't think i would want a double barrel though...I bet its darn heavy.---Jason

My brother tried one a couple years back.  He wanted true traditional as well, which meant no modern choke tubes.  Not only was he unable to use enough powder to get a hard hitting load, but he was unable to get good patterns.  It did have a very good ten yard pattern ;D

I saw a Realtree show a couple of weeks ago that was pretty much focused on a couple of guys that turkey hunt with 'traditional' weapons. I know Michael Waddell was the host, but not sure what the show was called. They were hunting here in Georgia, but I'm not sure where at. The show mentioned the gun maker and bow maker but I don't remember

Hey Jason, Check out these websites www.trackofthewolf.com They may have a kit for a shotgun... A lot of work to build one... also if looking somebody to build you one, www.gobblerknoblongrifles.com  He is from PA and makes some awesome guns.. and a great guy!!! I am a patch and round ball guy myself... *up* *up*

I have a double 12 gauge percussion and it is a lot of fun! Mine is shown here, it isn't what I would call custom, but is is nice, they make a flintlock as well  http://www.cherrys.com/ped_rif2.htm

Gregg, I didn't build that one although I have worked on a few years ago, it is something I would love to get back into doing. For turkey hunting they are adequate, if I was to make one or have one made for turkey hunting I would have the barrel restricted for good tight patterns. There are some nice kits here along the lines of what I might build
