Here is one of those projects that ya really HATE to see leave my hands. They belong(  *cry*) to Mike McDonald, and I sure hope they get shipped..... *peep*.
The set was ordered in pure white Holly and Mike requested Snakewood for lids and bases. He wanted them set up for Kelly Puckett's gifted artistic talent. Those two have tormented me all along this build, keeping me in the dark as to what they had planned. Well, Kelly called me and told me they were on the way back to finish...and when I opened the box, I immediately knew when I pulled out the first caller, Mike was in serious danger of never getting this set from me.
The theme Mike and Kelly worked from was a 2016 Osceolla hunt that Mike McDonald, Clint Corder, Frank Kruer, Brent Stoner, and myself went on together last season. From everyone meeting at my house the night before, the road trip, the guys land we hunted on, and the new memories we made were priceless. The first morning had all five of us back in at camp with birds hanging. A lot of laughter, birds, and great food(the owner of Tony Chachere actually cooked for us). Elvis, the traveling Gnome was also along for the trip. I am so glad Mike and Kelly didn't portray my miss with Clint, Frank and Brent behind me watching.....
The longbox represents the last day hunt with Mike on the gun, Me behind him on camera, and Clint, Frank, and Brent slightly behind the gun. We had the ole bird on the way with a flock of gilfriends from probably close to 400 yds,. The hens and gobbler came all the way to us, hens at 30 yds , and the ole monarch stayed out at 60-70yds for eternity. Finally the hens left the only way they could go and not allow Mike the shot, and he vanished with them.
The double sider portrays Elvis the traveling Gnome. Its a brain child(if he has a brain) of Doug Herman. Elvis was caught sleeping with Mike and Frank, but somehow the picture of Corder sleeping with him didn't make the cut.
The one sider is the opening day where we hung the birds as we arrived in camp and ultimatlly when Mike arrived last at noon we took a group picture of that memorable mornings hunt.
We already have a Nebraska hunt set for next season with the same guys -planning on hunting with Cottonwood lodge where Doug Herman is the man. He's a demented and a turkey thug...we all look forward to that trip and next season memories together....
Kelly, you are flat out AMAZING. The work you did on this set is unreal. I am humbled Mike allowed me to make the canvas for Kelly to preform her magic on . Kelly, with each new call you do for who ever, I and totally amazed with your talent.
I have to share all the pics of Kellys work.....

Jeff and Kelly I can't thank you guys enough. Jeff you teed it up with some absolutely spectacular boxes that are just drop dead gorgeous and Kelly you knocked it out of the park. I've run out of superlatives to describe your stunning artistic abilities. I'd also like to thank the guys that went on the trip. Frank, Brent, Clint, and Jeff you are a fantastic group of callmakers, tremendous turkey hunters, and great guys. I'm fortunate to be able to call all of you friends. These boxes will remind me always of one tremendous trip with you. Can't wait to do it again next spring.
Time to send them Jeff. You don't want them cluttering up your house. 😎😎😎
