Whats your favorite hunting boots
« on: March 12, 2016, 07:29:55 AM »
With the season around the corner my old hunting boots have seen better day's. Boots sure have changed in the recent years. They just don't seem to last as long as they used to. The old names we all trusted in boots have now outsourced the products oversees. It's hard to find a good USA  USA Made boot. I pulled the trigger on a pair of Russell Moccasins for this year. There made in Berlin, WI from a company that's been making boots by hand for very long time. They have everything from a light weight boot to Snake boots. If you haven't seen or wore a pair of Russell Moccasins I highly recommend them..... There awesome in my book. Looking for many years of service from these.

So what are you wearing this year?

I had a pair of those several years ago and they felt great on my feet. My issue with them was that the leather was soft and because where I hunt we have lots of raspberry bushes and small thorny plants, they got chewed up by the brush. Plus, at my age, I want a boot that doesn't take all day to lace up....... *peep* *peep* *peep*

My favorites are the Maine Guide boots by LL Bean.

Nice boots Brent , I wear the LL. Bean Maine hunting boot. They are light weight last a long time and you can feel the terrain under your feet. Tough leather tops and rubber bottoms with chain tread pliable soles. If you wear the bottoms out after time you can send them back and they will put complete new rubber bottoms on for a very reasonable price. They come in 10" 12" and 16"heights. They are also made in Maine by LL.Bean.

I have 3 pair / brands I wear a lot.  Top line Danners (still made in USA), Meindel's made in Germany and Cabela's Outfitter Series Prohunter, definetly imported but one of the toughest boots I have ever worn. Bill, I hear ya about the softer leather. They are comfortable but where I live and hunt its like walking around in sandpaper.  They just don't last.  ( I have always lusted after a pair of Russells anyway... :-[)

Have you all seen the new Russell's with the turtle skin liner. There a little stiff and requires a little more break in time..... But was built for the terrain you guys are hunting. A lot tuffer and snake proof. Yet very comfy.
