2016 Gobbler Express Team Check-In

 First day in VA. Cold (21) and snow. Arnie Jonathan and I heard 9 and I killed one at 7:45. Nice two year old with 10 1/2 inch beard 1 1/8 inch spurs. Just before I killed this bird I missed a Coyote from the same set up.

Nice,    I never killed one in the spring with snow on the ground. I have in the fall thou. Congrats on the bird Bill

Sorry guys but for the first time in years, I blanked.  New job in a new town.  Hard to find good hunting grounds quickly.
I did call in a 2 year old for my boss last weekend which he took.  Had 3 working today but one got sidetracked by a hen and the other 2 shut down when a cold hard rain hit.  My season is over for this year.  Hopefully next year I'll be able to get out and talk to some farmers and get permission to hunt.
I've had hens in my backyard all week but haven't seen a gobbler since I moved in.

This gobbler broke every rule, when it comes to going thru thick stuff. He came 400 yards through stuff I've had to crawl thru on my hands and knees. Got to 30 yards, just on the other side of a blow down and then...........wormed his way through the blow down! You could actually hear the feathers rubbing on the limbs and briars! 15 yards and here he is! 11 1/2 inch beard and 1 1/4 inch matching spurs. Nice when you can take a gobbler with a call you made!

 Wow, we only had one gobbler checked in for score?? I know there were at least two others taken! What happened?
