To encourage bowhunting I donated a few calls to the 2015 season contest. After receiving a few requests for pics I finally took some.

These scratch boxes are not yet complete. They still need two more coats of finish, waxing, and polish.






The tongues are some combination of purpleheart, maple, cherry, walnut bodies with beech, walnut, or cherry playing surface. The bottoms are cherry, curly maple, walnut, or cedar. The strikers aren't finished yet and I'll add pics when they are done. These calls were used to gather user info from local hunters and I quickly brushed them off for the photos hence the chalk dust.

Thanks for the props, I appreciate them very much. I really enjoy the contrasts and compliments of certain woods and how the end grain can vary from the face grain. When I began making calls the idea was (still is) to have them be simple to play, sound great, and look good. Finding different combinations has been really fun and adds another way to keep "hunting" when out of season.
