My 2009 bird
« on: August 31, 2009, 07:04:59 PM »
Here is my bird from last spring.  It was a tough season here in MO.  The weather would just not cooperate and it had the birds all mixed up.  This big jake looked aweful good later in the season.  My taste buds were craving some fried turkey breast with morel mushrooms and fresh crappie on the side....MMMmm!  Anyway, this bird was 19 lbs. and had a 6" beard.

For those that didn't hunt MO last year, some parts of the state were easy and some were just darn tough!!!!

That it did.  Ate some last night as a matter of fact.  With the season I had and no more time I had to hunt, it sure was a good feeling slappin a tag on that sucker.  He came in with another as I was calling to a gobbler across a holler and on a neighboring property.  I couldn't pass up the opportunity he gave me at just 20 yards.  I am pleased with him. You should be pleased there is nothing wrong with killing a jake.
