Each year I try to send the good ol' boys and gals in Savannah, Tennessee, a special call for the annual "Hunting for a Cure" event that raises money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and gives some very special youngsters a chance to bag a big old longbeard at the same time. The call that I have made for this year's benefit is made of Oregon myrtle. Bill Henkel introduced me to Oregon myrtle about four years ago and I have been fond of it ever since.
This call comes from a particular piece of wood that was selected by my pro staffer, John Kent, at "The Myrtlewood Factory" in Garibaldi, Oregon, a couple of years ago and hand-delivered to me here in beautiful downtown Hatley, MS. (Thank you, John) It is some of the last of that wood and I am afraid I will never have a better quality piece in either sound or appearance.
