New striker design
« on: January 29, 2015, 09:31:26 PM »
for the past few years I have built several strikers based on the old Beman arrow shafts which were fiber strands of graphite....so I had this theory that the wood in the center of the striker was not really necessary since the arrow shafts were similar in design to wood grain and worked really well and were very raspy....so after drilling an 1/8" hole all the way through the blank and finishing the profile..... I was correct the wood in the center of the striker shaft is not needed.....and also as a result the striker is a more raspy yelp than a striker of the same wood and outside diameter design...it still cuts the same and purrs were improved...the wood used here is bubinga  also did a monterillo earlier this year.....the next wood test will be a cedar which is used almost solely for cluck and purr....
