It's not calling to much if you have the option to walk up to him.... I wonder if they messed up that gobbler that was coming....? I would have kept her just as close as I could as long as that Tom keeps coming.

Have watched that video many many times.. While it may not be the best way to call to a gobbler there is a lot to glean if you listen, how she changes tones adds inflection.

I find it really interesting. She changes tone and even sounds as though she hits a few bad notes. I would never take this approach however sometimes I have been left wondering should I have called more aggressively.

Some turkeys want a lot of calling; some don't.  Some like it loud; some don't.  Some like it one way today and another way tomorrow.  Just keep in mind that you can always turn it up if you think you need to, but you can't unring a bell.  As JJ Cale sang once in a song, "wish I had not said that".

The term, Over Calling is one of the most misunderstood terms in turkey calling. When people talk about over calling, a lot of todays hunters misunderstand it as your running your call too much. Over Calling is a term where as your running the same call over and over, yelp-yelp-yelp-yelp ect. Once you've got a birds attention and he's coming to your calling, keep him coming, don't stop call all together, but shorten your calling sequences, 3-4 calls instead of 7-8.

I agree you have to talk to the turkey not call at it. If that makes sense.  Most hunters go yelp yelp yelp cut cut cut. That isnt always talking to him. That talking at him. There is a difference between talking and calling.
