On my annual hunt at CSA Yellow Creek Hunt Club I got this nice 120 lb. 4 pointer. I got him on 12-27-14 at 8:23 am. It was the first morning in the woods. It had rained all night and was still raining when I woke up at 5:00 am. I was the only one that got up. I hunted in a shooting house so I could stay dry. Daylight was slow to come due to the rainy cloudy weather. I was having a hard time staying alert due to the rain on the roof of the shooting house. At 8:20 am I started to start dreaming about breakfast. I just closed my eyes and put put my head down just for a min or two. When I looked up there stood the buck in my shooting lane at 50 yards broadside. I quickly grabbed my Browning Bar up and took the safety off, aimed and took the shot. He bolted as the bullet hit him. He ran 50 yards and them crossed the shooting lane again and fell dead with in 100 yards of the stand. I had no longer fired when I heard my BIL Chris on the radio asked if I had shot. I told him yes sir I did. I told him to wait awhile. About 20 minutes later in came and got me and the buck on his four wheeler. Took him back to camp. Weighted him on the skinning pole. Then went to to eat some breakfast I had been dreaming about before the buck came. Thank the lord for a good rainy day in the Alabama Woods.
Also on the week of hunting there were a few other lucky hunters in camp.
Bubba our camp cook got a nice 162 lb. 10 pointer on 12-29-14.
