what release do you guys use?

i'm in complete overhaul mode right now and am going to be getting a new release.  i'm going to put my rest on hold for the time being, but will be getting the new sight and a new release.  i'm thinking of a couple right now to choose from.  the one's i'm looking at are-

scott-
sabertooth
silver horn
shark
little goose (deluxe)

truball-
short n sweet


i want one with a forward trigger.

Best thing to do, Is if u have a local shop that will let u try a few , Then pick the one u like & feels the best. This is kind of afeel thing, Can't always go by what someone else likes.

i agree.  i know i am going to go with a forward trigger.  i am going to be trying my brother's silver horn and little goose that my buddy has.  then i'm gonna hit the shop and try the sabertooth, which i'm leaning towards (i like the idea of the dual caliper) and one or two others.

I have the little goose and love that thing.  I was lucky to shoot with my friends and new that's what I wanted!

If the darn wind was blowing like crazy today, I'd get the bow out and go shoot!!!

I've been using a Winn-Free release for years and I really like it.  The only drawback is that your shooting hand is never free.  I also tried the Mongoose but couldn't get use to it.  I think I'm going to try a thumb/finger release this way I can leave it attached to the string and have both hands free at all times.

i've used the winn as well.  i think it's a good release, but mine isn't a caliper and i too agree about the glove being in the way.  i have thought about looking at a pure bt release, or a thumb release.  i like the idea of what you mentioned as well, but i think that i am going to hold off on looking at one of those right now.  it seems to me that you get what you pay for with those types of releases.  i looked at a mid priced ($65 or so) thumb release and it felt cheap.  it could of just been the one i picked up.

I just switched this past year from my 15 or so year old Cobra strap release to a 4 finger thumb release from Tru fire.  I like the fact that I can keep the release on the string until ready to shoot but I sometimes feel when I have gloves on that it could slide out of my finger when I draw.  I think I may go back to a wrist strap release for next year.

i would have looked at that one too, but the little goose is a smaller version of the mongoose.

... used a Scott Little Goose for many many years, great release - two seasons ago I switched to the Scott Sabertooth - I do like the double-caliper better ...

I've tried many over the years and recently many new to the market.... Scott Releases in my opinion are still the smoothest, toughest and best designed out there.  Love my Scott Mongoose.---Jason

I still use the Tru Tornado I've had for over a decade.
